Dr. David Barnes is researching the impact of the 1918 influenza pandemic on Philadelphia's Black and immigrant neighborhoods. Rising-junior HSOC major Matthew Breier received summer funding from the Center for Undergraduate Research and Fellowships (CURF) through the Penn Undergraduate Research Mentoring Program (PURM) to participate in this research. Fellow rising junior and HSOC major Katya Korendiy is also participating in this research through support from Dr. Barnes' research fund.
