History and Sociology of ScienceThrough a study abroad program this spring, rising HSOC senior Adriana Discher of Philadelphia learned about health care, societal inequities, and pandemic response in the United States, Vietnam, South Africa, and Argentina. Even though her in-person abroad experience was cut short by COVID-19, Discher says her travels and coursework “made it super clear how the social determinants of health play into who is getting sick in the coronavirus pandemic.”
