HSOC alum Samantha Stein has received a Graduate Research Fellowship from the National Science Foundation to support her doctoral studies.

The fellowship enables her to continue her ongoing research on the federal Exception from Informed Consent (EFIC), used to waive consent for greater-than-minimal-risk emergency medical research. This research builds on a project initiated for her undergraduate thesis, and feeds into her larger research interests in public participation in science, biomedical knowledge production, clinical research ethics, predictive practices/processes in biomedicine, cultures of expertise, and risk assessment. Congratulations, Samantha!
