There will be a special session on Productivity and the U.S. Economy at the Penn Economic History Forum this coming Friday, November 16.  Leading economic historians on the subject will be participating. The session will center on a paper co-authored by Gerben Bakker of the London School of Economics, Nicholas Crafts of the University of Warwick, and Pieter Woltjer of the University of Groningen, “The Sources of Growth in a Technologically Progressive Economy:  The United States, 1899-1941”(Bakker of LSE will be present). The discussants will be Alexander Field of Santa Clara University and Robert Gordon of Northwestern. Robert Gordon is the author of the widely discussed The Rise and Fall of American Growth: The U.S. Standard of Living Since the Civil War. 

 

The Forum meets in College Hall 209, 2:00-4:00.
