Becoming a Health and Societies Major

If you decide to declare HSOC as your major, you need to complete the following steps:

1. Download and complete the HSOC Application. Be sure to select an in-major concentration, list six possible courses for that concentration, and write a paragraph explaining your interest in HSOC.

2. Prepare a Penn-in-Touch worksheet for HSOC that selects an in-major concentration

3. If you have not declared a major before, meet with your Pre-Major advisor or a College advisor and

(i) Have s/he make your HSOC worksheet official

(ii) Have s/he initial and date your HSOC application

(IF you are changing majors or adding HSOC as a second major you do NOT have to do Step 3)

4. Meet with Dr. Barnes (the HSOC Director) or Dr. Greene (the Undergraduate Coordinator). They will

(i) check your application

(ii) discuss your concentration and proposed program of study

(iii) Clear your registration hold (if any)

(iv) Enter you as an HSOC Major
